Centre Pompidou

The trendy and hip Centre Pompidou is distinguished by its wonderful collection of modern art within its creatively designed building. It also features a cinema, concerts and children's activities.
The building structure is very special and odd. The critics have described the design of Pompidou museum as an “oil refinery in the centre of the city”. The intention by the architects was to place service elements, such as water, electricity, outside of the building and consequently turn the building “inside out”.

Matisse, Picasso, MirĂ³ and Pollock are just some of all the artists who is represented inside of this museum. The major art movements are represented by fauvism, cubism, surrealism and abstract expressionism.
The museum has more than 50,000 works of art which include painting, sculptures, drawing and photography of which approximately 1,500-2,000 are on public displayed. It is open every day from 11 AM to 10 PM, except for Tuesdays and the 1st of May.
